The University of Arizona has officially posted for the position of Assistant Coach. With this news many are talking about who will fill this role. Excitement has built as word circulates that one prospect, a former Arizona Wildcat, could be in the mix.
U of A Legend Jason Terry is this prospect. Some of his accomplishments as a player include, in his sophomore year being apart of the 1997 NCAA National Championship team, the only team to take out 3 number 1 seeds along the way. In Terry’s senior year he was named the PAC-10 Player of the Year, Consensus first-team All American, and First Team All PAC-10. As he continued his basketball career he was drafted 10th overall by the Atlanta Hawks in 1999. In 2000 Terry was NBA All Rookie Second Team, in 2009 he was the NBA Sixth Man of the Year, and in 2011 he was an NBA Champion with the Dallas Mavericks.
With his recent retirement, Terry is primed and more than qualified to join the coaching staff at his alma mater. His presence would bring a winning pedigree and boost the University of Arizona’s recruiting prospects. This has been a silver lining amidst the uncertainty of this pandemic.
Articles report that in the coming weeks we should know who has filled this position. Who do you think can fill this position? Does the prospect of Jason Terry joining the staff excite you?
